The Sustainable Power solution supports service providers' green initiatives, whether for new deployments, network expansions or upgrades of existing infrastructure. The solution is composed of customizable power-related services focused on enhancing service providers' power systems, preventing power failures, realizing efficiencies and carrying out environmentally friendly equipment retirement and recycling activities. Fully vendor-neutral and broad in scope, it is a natural extension of Alcatel-Lucent's multivendor EF&I (engineer, furnish and install) services. Through the Sustainable Power solution, Alcatel-Lucent also resells power systems and battery products from leading global suppliers, offering our customers a single, reliable partner to meet their network power needs and fulfill their eco-imperatives.
These services fall into four categories: consultation, design, integration and deployment, and maintenance and operation.
Consultation
Comprehensive power, battery and energy assessment
Alcatel-Lucent provides an overall evaluation of customer network power equipment and batteries, including testing, requirements definition (for growth or consolidation) and upgrade recommendations. Alcatel-Lucent's field experts analyze power plants to identify opportunities for efficiency gains and the potential use of alternative energy sources. They also measure the energy consumption of existing network equipment, pinpointing elements that could be consolidated to reduce energy use.
Grounding surveys
These specialized surveys study grounding configurations and the voltage-protection capabilities of a customer's equipment and network environment. Alcatel-Lucent then provides a set of recommendations for improvement that conform to industry and technical standards.
Design
Power design orders
Based on our analysis of customers' network power needs, we develop lists of AC, DC, battery and fusing requirements according to considerations of demand, capacity, distribution and drain. We also design alternative energy solutions for customers.
Equipment engineering
Optimal network performance depends on the deployment and configuration of the right equipment for each customer's particular circumstances. Equipment engineering ensures the correct choices are made and put into place. Customized hardware and software configurations, specifications and drawings are all part of this service.
Integration and Deployment
Installation material sourcing services
Customers can take advantage of one-stop shopping through Alcatel-Lucent for reliable, trusted third-party network power products, alternative energy systems and installation site materials.
Equipment installation
Drawing on our extensive experience and proven processes, we install equipment for customers — professionally and proficiently. We also assemble cables and wires, and test hardware components for proper functioning.
Maintenance and Operation
Equipment removal and disposition
At the end of lifecycle or in cases of network migration, Alcatel-Lucent removes, recycles or disposes of batteries and other equipment in safe and environmentally friendly ways.
