Cloud services offer the potential to change the way enterprises worldwide do business. Although cloud adoption rates are robust across major industry sectors, only 34% of enterprises in major markets use the cloud for mission critical applications.
The Alcatel-Lucent Market and Consumer Insight team conducted an in-depth study with 3,886 participating IT decision makers. The study revealed that enterprises in the U.S., U.K., France, India, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong still have concerns over current cloud offerings. Service outages are the main concern, while enterprises say performance and data security need the most improvement.
Despite these concerns, this Alcatel-Lucent study reveals that there is a real demand for a next-generation, high-performance cloud solution. And it offers insights into how enterprise attitudes and perceptions of cloud services in each market will impact future adoption rates.
The research revealed that enterprises in all markets are willing to pay for a next-generation, high-performance cloud solution. In fact, a carrier-grade cloud service is four times more attractive and has the potential to generate ten times more revenue than existing cloud services.
Although demand varies by market, enterprises agree that the ideal supplier is not necessarily one who is a leader in cloud technologies. Enterprises want a provider they can trust to deliver secure cloud solutions that are sufficiently robust to handle the most mission critical applications and deliver guaranteed quality of service.
