Davos 2010: "More focus on Main Street and not just Wall Street"

The number of political leaders showing up here in Davos is impressive.
From all parts of the world.
Their messages are however very diverse. We better get used to it.

Yes, we have the G20 and thankfully they did great things at the time of the financial crisis.
But it seems to me people are now looking to express their individuality as cultures and nations or regions.
Perhaps it is just a matter of tonality, but perhaps we better prepare to get more colour than we had before.
For business this means a greater awareness of sensitivities and local focus, without losing the benefits of global strategies.
A balancing act that will require a good antenna on what is going on.

Davos this year was much more interesting than it has been for many years.

It was about strategies, policies, posibilities and risks, but much more focus on Main street and not just Wall Street.

To me, a great relief.

With climate change, youth unemployment and global trade we are adressing the issues we can’t ignore.

And for the ICT industry this also was a good Davos: we will be like oil, an ingredient for other sectors’ success.
Whether it is education, health or e-government, I see real action all around the globe!
