The Open API Service provides a program where service providers, enterprises and third-party API providers can reach a new community of developers and supplement in-house developers with innovative tools to build custom applications. Highlights of the Developer Platform and Program:

• Alcatel-Lucent's API aggregation and bundling model, as part of the Open API Service, introduces a bold new approach that enables application revenue sharing to benefit developers, service providers and enterprises alike. The model bundles a collection of two or more APIs/Web services that developers can use to create a new application in a revenue sharing model involving all parties. The approach gives developers access to new smart API bundles without requiring upfront API fees. By incenting application creation and mobilizing the value chain in this way, network providers can attract new developers leveraging their network assets. Developers can build audiences for their applications, and enterprises can gain solutions to their business challenges.
• The Alcatel-Lucent API Exposure Suite, a key component of the the Developer Platform, ensures network providers have a more effective way to monetize their network capabilities. By providing a secure "exposure layer," the solution allows network assets to be made available to application developers, so these assets can be used to enrich Web-based services and provide new mash-up capabilities.
• The Virtual Sandbox, provides developers with an environment in which they can simulate, test and verify new applications across service provider networks for delivery across a wide range of platforms. The Virtual Sandbox helps eliminate application testing and certification costs and accelerates the development, distribution and deployment of new services.
• The Developer Analytics Dashboard, a key element of the Open API Service, offers developers, real-time business analysis of the revenue potential (and associated costs) of new applications. Using the dashboard, developers can explore the various business model options associated with a given service and make an educated guess about its relative value and revenue potential before committing significant time or expense to create an application. The dashboard helps developers manage all of their business KPIs and track the financial performance of an application. It eliminates multi-step, multi-sign in processes and aggregates all of this data into one place.
